About Psychoeducational Assessment & Testing for Adults
(Ages 18+)

A psychoeducational assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that is often used to assess students and make recommendations to address academic or learning difficulties. Psychoeducational assessments aim to understand an individual's cognitive abilities, learning style, and academic strengths and weaknesses. Often psychological or behavioural challenges are also evaluated, as they may impact learning as well. It typically involves a combination of standardized tests, interviews, observations, and a review of relevant records. The assessment evaluates various areas, such as intelligence, learning potential, academic skills, memory, attention, socio-emotional functioning and behaviour. The results of a psycho-educational assessment can provide valuable insights into a person's learning profile, identify specific learning disabilities or challenges, including ADHD or other disorders that impact learning and behaviour, and inform the development of appropriate educational interventions and accommodations. It can be particularly helpful for children, adolescents, or adults who may be experiencing academic difficulties, struggling with learning or seeking support for educational planning and decision-making.

We utilize the latest assessment measures available, and our testing protocols and reports meet all current professional standards and are accepted by all local school boards and academic institutions.

Psychological assessment services may be conducted by qualified assessors, under supervision, and may not be performed by a psychologist directly. While this is a common and widely accepted practice, some insurance plans do not cover such services; therefore, you must inquire with your insurance provider to determine coverage.

Appointments:

• Appointments are held in-person at our head office in Ajax Ontario

• Appointments are conducted Monday to Friday during regular business hours.

• We also offer full-day testing.

Scheduling:

Our Psychoeducational Assessment process typically includes:

• An Interview Appointment to gain a deeper understanding of your concerns (1 hour, typically by telephone).

• Patient Testing Appointment #1 (3 hours, in-person).

• Patient Testing Appointment #2 (3 hours, in-person).

• Feedback Session and Diagnosis Review to communicate the results (1 hour, typically by telephone).

Fees, Payments & Receipts:

• The fee for this service currently ranges from $3,825 to $4,275.

• A deposit of $500 is required to secure your assessment.

• The $3,325 to $3,775 balance must be paid at least one business day before your first testing appointment.

• Please note: Signed receipts that can be submitted to insurance (if you have extended health coverage) are issued twice during the assessment process:

  • The 1st signed receipt is issued once testing has been completed (includes the initial interview & testing appointments).

  • The 2nd signed receipt is issued upon completion of the assessment (includes remaining hours).

• We accept credit cards (Visa and MasterCard) and e-transfers.

• We will require a valid credit card to keep on file.

Insurance:

• Some insurance plans may cover this service.

• We recommend contacting your provider to determine coverage.

• We will be happy to provide you with a sample receipt prior to booking, so that you may determine if you have coverage.

• Kindly note that we do not typically bill insurance companies directly for private assessments.

Report:

• The comprehensive final report includes a diagnosis (if applicable) for any learning, behavioural or psychological disabilities or disorders that have been identified.

• The report also provides a recommendations section to assist clients with practical strategies that can be implemented at home and school to support learning.

• Depending on the diagnosis, the report may include an accommodations section advocating for specific adjustments and modifications at school, such as recommending an Individual Education Plan (IEP) and other supports.

• The final report will be prepared within 6-8 weeks after the final testing appointment, provided that all necessary documentation is completed and returned to us promptly.

• Once the report is complete, we will contact you to schedule a feedback session to discuss the report in detail and address any questions or concerns you may have.

• Please note that any specific forms that you wish to have completed should be provided to the assessors at the outset of the evaluation, whenever possible.
