About Gifted Assessment & Testing for Adults
Mills | Gosse Psychology offers assessments specifically designed to assess Cognitive Ability (Intelligence). Adults seeking this service may be curious and wish to know their intelligence scores or use the results to enter Mensa or other high-intelligence societies and programs. We currently administer the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV), the most widely used and validated measure of intelligence in adults. This is a specialized service where only this test is administered, and scores are reported. It is important to note that each program or service has specific criteria for defining giftedness or eligibility, independent of our organization and the test itself. After completing the assessment, patients can provide the results to any third-party organization they wish, who will then determine eligibility.
Please note the gifted assessment service solely provides intelligence scores and does not encompass the evaluation of any other psychological, learning, or behavioural issues. If you have any additional concerns regarding your learning, academic functioning, or behaviour that you wish to have assessed, we suggest considering another Psychological Assessment service. These additional concerns will not be evaluated in a Gifted Assessment.
Psychological assessment services may be conducted by qualified assessors, under supervision, and may not be performed by a psychologist directly. While this is a very common and widely accepted practice, some insurance plans do not cover such services. Therefore you must inquire with your insurance provider to determine coverage.
Appointments:
The gifted assessment is conducted within one 2-hour testing appointment.
Appointments are held in-person at our head office in Ajax, Ontario.
Appointments are conducted Monday to Friday during regular business hours.
Fee & Payment:
The fee for this service is typically $750.
A deposit of $250 is required to secure your appointment.
The balance of $500 must be paid at least one business day before your first appointment.
The final, detailed receipt that can be submitted to insurance for reimbursement (if applicable) will be issued after the report's completion.
We accept credit cards (Visa and MasterCard) and e-transfers.
We will require a credit card to keep on file.
Insurance:
Some insurance plans may cover this service.
We recommend contacting your provider to determine coverage.
You will receive a receipt signed by the supervising psychologist, including their name, registration number, and the treating clinician's name and credentials.
Report:
The gifted assessment service solely provides intelligence scores and does not encompass the evaluation of any other learning or behavioural issues.
The final report will be prepared and emailed typically within 3-5 business days after the appointment.
